Indefinite Pronoun หรือสรรพนามที่ไม่ชี้เฉพาะเจาะจง ได้แก่สรรพนามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย some~, every~, any~, no~ และต่อท้ายด้วย ~body, ~one, ~thing, ~where เป็นต้น โดยกลุ่มคำเหล่านี้มีความหมายที่แตกต่างกัน ดังนี้

 

some~ + V เอกพจน์ (มักใช้ในประโยคบอกเล่า)

 

somebody, someone = ใครบางคน 

There’s somebody waiting to see you.    (มีใครบางคนกำลังรอเจอคุณอยู่)
Somebody has eaten my bread.        (ใครบางคนกินขนมปังของฉัน)
There is someone in the garden.        (มีใครบางคนอยู่ในสวน)
Someone is knocking the door.        (ใครบางคนกำลังเคาะประตูอยู่)

something = บางสิ่งบางอย่าง

There is something wrong.            (มีอะไรบางอย่างผิดปกติ)
She said something.                (เธอพูดอะไรบางอย่าง)
Would you like something to eat?        (คุณอยากทานอะไรบ้างมั้ย?)

somewhere = ที่ไหนสักแห่ง

Ron lives somewhere near London.    (รอนอาศัยที่ไหนสักแห่งใกล้ๆ ลอนดอน)
Somewhere over the rainbow.        (ที่ไหนสักแห่งเหนือสายรุ้ง)
My wallet must be around here somewhere.    (กระเป๋าสตางค์ฉันต้องอยู่แถวๆ นี้แน่ๆ)

 

every~ + V เอกพจน์ (มักใช้ในประโยคบอกเล่า)

 

everybody, everyone = ทุกคน

Everybody is waiting for you.        (ทุกคนกำลังรอคุณอยู่)
I like the people here. Everybody is very friendly.    (ฉันชอบผู้คนที่นี่ ทุกคนเป็นมิตรมากๆ)     
Everyone was asleep.            (ทุกคนหลับหมดแล้ว)

everything = ทุกสิ่ง, ทุกอย่าง

Have you got everything you need?    (คุณได้ทุกอย่างที่ต้องการแล้วรึยัง?)
I decided to tell her everything.        (ฉันตัดสินใจแล้วว่าจะบอกเธอทุกอย่าง)
He knows everything about computers.    (เขารู้ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างเกี่ยวกับคอมพิวเตอร์)

everywhere = ทุกที่

I’ve lost my watch. I’ve looked everywhere for it.    (ฉันทำนาฬิกาข้อมือหาย ฉันหามันทุกที่แล้ว)
He’s travelled everywhere in Europe.    (เขาได้ไปเที่ยวทุกที่ทั่วยุโรปเลย)
Everywhere we went was full of tourists.        (ทุกๆ ที่ที่เราไปมานักท่องเที่ยวเยอะมาก)

 

any~ + V เอกพจน์ (ใช้ในประโยคปฏิเสธและประโยคคำถาม)

 

anybody, anyone = บางคน 

There isn’t anyone in the room.        (ไม่มีใครอยู่ในห้องเลย)
This is a secret. Please don’t tell anyone.        (นี่เป็นความลับ โปรดอย่าบอกใคร)
I didn’t see anybody.            (ฉันไม่เห็นใครเลย)
Don’t tell anybody.                (อย่าบอกใครก็ตาม)

anything = บางสิ่งบางอย่าง

I didn’t buy anything.            (ฉันไม่ได้ซื้ออะไรมาเลย)
Do you know anything about this town?    (พอจะรู้อะไรเกี่ยวกับเมืองนี้บ้างมั้ย?)
I can’t remember anything.        (ฉันจำอะไรไม่ได้เลย)

anywhere = บางที่

I’m staying here. I’m not going anywhere.    (ฉันจะอยู่ที่นี่ จะไม่ไปไหน)
Do you need anywhere to stay for the night?    (คุณจะหาที่พักสักที่สำหรับคืนนี้มั้ย?)
Have you been anywhere else in Spain?        (เธอเคยไปที่ไหนบ้างมั้ยในสเปน?)

 

no~ + V เอกพจน์ (ใช้ในประโยคบอกเล่า)

 

nobody, no one = ไม่มีใครเลย

I’m lonely. I’ve got nobody to talk to.    (ฉันเหงา ฉันไม่มีเพื่อนคุยด้วยเลย)
Nobody knows.                (ไม่มีใครรู้)
No-one could remember her name.    (ไม่มีใครจำชื่อเธอได้เลย)
No one lives there.                (ที่นี่ไม่มีใครอาศัยอยู่เลย)

nothing = ไม่มีอะไรเลย 

There is nothing in the bag.        (ในกระเป๋าไม่มีอะไรเลย)
She said nothing.                (เธอไม่ได้พูดอะไร)
Nothing happened.                (ไม่มีอะไรเกิดขึ้น)

 

nowhere = ไม่มีที่ไหน

I don’t like this town. There is nowhere to go.    (ฉันไม่ชอบเมืองนี้ มันไม่มีที่ไหนให้ไปเลย)
I have no job and nowhere to live.    (ผมไม่มีงานและก็ไม่มีที่อยู่ด้วย)
This animal is found in Australia, and nowhere else.    (สัตว์ชนิดนี้พบในออสเตรเลีย ไม่พบในที่อื่นใด)

 

*nobody/no one/nothing = not + anybody/anyone/anything

There’s no body in the office. = There isn’t anybody in the office.
There was no one at home. = There wasn’t anyone at home.
We’ve got nothing for dinner. = We haven’t got anything for dinner.

We always go to the same place. Let’s go somewhere different.
