Questions 1 - 5
Zeus, the king of the gods, was known for his power and wisdom. He ruled the heavens with a firm hand, controlling the weather and watching over all the gods and mortals alike. However, despite his might, Zeus had a tendency to fall in love with mortal women. One day, he noticed a beautiful maiden named Io. She was a priestess of Hera, Zeus's wife, which made Zeus's affection for her even more dangerous.
To keep his love a secret, Zeus turned Io into a white cow to hide her from Hera's watchful eyes. However, Hera, suspicious as always, demanded the cow as a gift. Zeus reluctantly agreed, but Hera did not stop there. She assigned a hundred-eyed giant named Argus to watch over Io, ensuring that Zeus could never free her.
Determined to save Io, Zeus sent his son Hermes to rescue her. Using his cleverness, Hermes lulled Argus to sleep and then slew the giant. Io was finally free, but Hera's wrath was far from over. She sent a gadfly to torment Io, forcing her to wander the earth in cow form for many years before she could be restored to her human shape.
